Simple Solutions {Homemade Cleaners}
Over the years I have become more and more aware of all the bad stuff in home cleaners. Nick and I have been gradually switching to “green” cleaners and trying to eliminate some of those bad things from our home. Unfortunately, the “green” cleaners cost a FORTUNE and some of them aren’t as green as I’d like them to be. So, being the avid DIYer that I am, I went to the web and started researching. After trying several combinations of different components, i have finally settled on a set of cleaners that work well for us and are safe enough to drink (not that I would recommend it). The plethora of cleaning supplies under my kitchen sink have been replaced with just 5 bottles and those bottles are made from just 6 ingredients!
WARNING: Some of these cleaners mix baking soda or washing soda and vinegar, watch out for the reaction! Remember the volcano science project….?
What you will need:
- Castille Soap (I use Dr. Bronners. Pick a scent you like, this stuff is great for everything and a little bit goes a LONG way.)
- Washing Soda
- Baking Soda
- White Vinegar
- Lavender Essential Oil
- Tea Tree Oil
- 4 Spray Bottles
- 1 Squirt Bottle
1. All Purpose Cleaner
Spray Bottle
2 C Water
1 tsp Washing Soda
1 tsp Castille
1/4 C Vinegar
2. Window Cleaner
Spray Bottle
2 C Water
1/2 C Vinegar
3. Grease Cutter
Spray Bottle
3 C Water
6 Tbsp Castille
20 drops Lavender EO
4. Tub & Tile
Squirt Bottle
1 1/4 Baking Soda
1 C Castille
1/4 C Vinegar
1 C Water
5. Anti-Bacterial
Spray Bottle
2C Water
40 drops Lavender EO
Easy peasy, right? Totally safe and surprisingly very effective. Another added benefit is the smell, these smell great and you don’t have to worry about ventilation because there are no fumes!
I made these labels for my bottles so I could remake the solutions when needed without digging out the recipe. You can download them here if you’d like Green Cleaner Printables (338)
